Improve leadership capability and business results through the development of:

  • Effective coaching and relationship building behaviours
  • Enhanced communication and team management capability

Our Approach

A one-on-one Executive Coaching Program was developed to enable a focus on participants’ individual development needs. It took place over 9 months, with each participant assigned an experienced coach with whom they would meet every 4-6 weeks. The process included:

  • Participant / Management Briefing: Creating understanding and commitment to the process
  • Pre-program Leadership Assessment: 360 degree survey to assess current competence
  • Familiarisation Meetings (Participants and Managers): Clarification of program goals, expectations, strengths and areas of development
  • Further Assessment: Interviews and shadowing to uncover others’ perceptions of participants’ leadership & communication style and to assess, first-hand, demonstrated behaviours
  • Feedback Reports: Highlighting strengths and opportunities for further development, (focussing on both addressing skills gaps and capitalising on known strengths)
  • Coaching Meetings: Series of meetings during which development actions were identified and progress assessed
  • Post-Program Assessments: Participant program evaluation and 360 degree leadership assessment to assess improvement in demonstrated behaviours and perceived program benefits

Outcomes

The post-program assessments highlighted the following positive changes:

1. Participant Behaviours:
  • Improved ability to elicit and understand career goals and provide support / opportunities for further skill / knowledge development
  • Less micro managing, with a shift towards ‘coaching’ direct reports to develop their own ideas and problem solve effectively
  • Improved working relationships with direct reports and peers
2. Business Impact:
  • Creation of well defined business action plans to support both individual and organisational performance
  • Organisational indicators showing improvements in stress, workload and supervision effectiveness

In addition, 92% of participants indicated that they would recommend this program to other Managers
